Bechtel is on the Northrop Grumman Corp. team preparing to deliver the U.S. Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) system of inter-continental ballistic missiles and launch infrastructure. GBSD is a vital U.S. Air Force program designed to modernize the nation s aging force of inter-continental ballistic missiles, which make up the ground element of the nuclear deterrent. As part of the Northrop Grumman GBSD nationwide team, Bechtel will provide launch system design, construction, and integration.

Position
Summary:

This position is for a Mechanical Engineer who will prepare designs for mechanical systems associated with DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will specifically support the USAF Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase. The GBSD program is the weapon system replacement for the Minuteman III missile systems. Our team is supporting Northrop Grumman and the USAF s nuclear deterrence mission to modernize this ground-based leg of the nuclear triad.


Responsibilities:

This role will support design development of Mechanical systems and equipment for the GBSD program project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, data sheets, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. Work with mechanical engineers and other technical disciplines in a team environment.

  • Development design drawings and other design documents
  • Perform formal calculations
  • Prepare design and equipment specifications
  • Develop design configuration packages for configuration control and change management
  • Design Building Information Modeling and coordination with other disciplines
  • Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product
  • Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team

Qualifications and Skills:

Basic
Qualifications:

  • Level 1:
    BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related), from an accredited university, with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Level 2:
    BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related), from an accredited university, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to design drawings, calculations, and specifications for Mechanical systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building mechanical systems.
  • US citizenship is required per contract requirement.
  • Possess the ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance.

Minimum
Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards, Broad knowledge of the application of Mechanical engineering design principles.

Preferred
Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in use of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
  • Prior work experience in multi-project environment and demonstrated flexibility in work assignments.
  • Experience developing equipment configuration packages for procurement and maintenance
  • Passed Engineering in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering Examination in USA (Mechanical or related Engineering).
  • Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs ISO-9000.
  • Basic knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact
  • Experience executing engineering and design with Revit
  • Possess an active Secret level security clearance

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
