WHAT DOES AN ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN DO? As an Accounting Technician you will be responsible for a wide range of duties crucial to the effective operation of the Accounting Controls/Service Operations. These duties range from examination, recordation, verification, control, balancing, adjusting, and maintenance of the full range of accounting data. As an Accounting Technician:
Ensure the control and balance of daily computer-generated listings cover electronic payments Identify and make recommendations for program or operational improvements. Provide technical assistance on program operations such as establishment and maintenance of new general ledger accounts and control registers used to collect data for reports. Prepare and submit accountability reports. Resolve all unbalanced conditions in accounts. Act on problem resolution requests including payment tracer cases. You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Experience using the full range of accounting procedures, techniques, terminology, and regulations to identify erroneous journal entries and perform extensive research to resolve account discrepancies and errors; Experience using automated accounting control system and manual procedures, extensive account structures and systems, the full range of accounting code classifications, subdivisions, associated codes, and documents to process extremely varied transactions. You experience should involve extensive problem solving, and innovative approaches as well as substantial research, complex reconciliation, balancing, and adjusting on unusual transactions and a wide variety of accounts.-The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.-To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week, on your resume. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
