Summary: Will work directly with parents and children in Head Start in promoting intergenerational literacy activities. Must work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and situations. The majority of participants are low-income, Latino families attending Head Start.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must have excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
Must be able to work effectively with diverse populations.
Preference given to those with experience in working with children and families.
Fluency in Spanish required for some of the positions.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL CHARACTERISTICS:
requires occasional light to moderate lifting and carrying (up to 45 lbs)
in cases of emergency, may have to lift 45 pounds or more
could require simple grasping
walking, standing or sitting for long periods of time
ability to climb stairs
ability to operate office equipment
must be able to see and hear with or without an aid
may be required to work long or irregular hours
must have the ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English, and count
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND
Experience:
Associates degree in Child Development/Family Studies or related area.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
