Charter School K-8 Principal

Venture Academy (www.venturelearning.org) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of K-8 Principal in a K-12 school. Venture has approximately 500 students and is a member of the Expeditionary Learning Schools network (www.elschools.org) with 160 schools in 29 states. Successful candidates will show a blend of leadership skills well oriented toward achieving the mission and vision of Venture. These skills include:
clearly communicating the mission and values of the school both verbally and in writing;
creating a positive culture with high expectations and a collaborative atmosphere that motivates and commits employees and students to fulfilling the school's purpose and vision;
leading curriculum, instruction, and assessment development aligned with school goals for student success;
developing goals, strategies, and action plans via professional learning community structures to realize goals for student success in line with school improvement goals;
supporting and coaching teachers in best practices;
demonstrating shared leadership by collaboratively working with staff to solve problems;
working with teachers to manage discipline and classroom management as well as responding well to serious discipline issues;
developing schedules and procedures that support the goals of the school;
recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating teachers and support staff;
managing an office in an effective and efficient manner;
effectively managing the day to day affairs that arise as a natural part of a school environment.
administering an assigned budget for the K-8 in support of school vision and goals;
working collaboratively as a member of the K-12 administrative team (Educational Director, High School Principal, and K-8 Principal) to ensure consistent practices in line with the school's vision and goals for improvement.
assuming additional duties as required by the Educational Director.
Education - Minimum 4 year bachelor's degree in a relevant field
Experience in most of the following is preferred:
Classroom teaching experience.
Experience working at a school (or program within a school) with similar philosophy and approach to teaching and learning as Venture (e.g., an expeditionary learning school).
Experience working with teachers in a leadership capacity.
Experience hiring and managing personnel to achieve the goals of their school.
Experience successfully managing a budget (school or similar).
Evidence of ability to do other administrative tasks such as effective management of facilities, compliance with laws and regulations, etc.
Evidence of ability to effectively respond to parent concerns and to manage conflict.
Degree of Fit: A successful candidate will show a willingness to seriously explore Venture's Vision and Expeditionary Learning's core practices in order to determine if, and show that, their personal values and educational philosophy are consistent with Venture's.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
