Job Description:
LSU is seeking a Professional in Residence to teach Graduate and Undergraduate classes while also serving as digital twinning specialist for a large-scale aerospace project.
Teaching and Research are fully integrated in this position.
This position requires an existing capability or potential capacity to integrate essential aspects of 3D scanning, point cloud to mesh workflows, digital thread, industrial sensors, microcontrollers, BIM data user interfaces for simulations and real-time graphics engines.
This role will include working with Unreal Engine, VR/AR devices, 3D digital content creation tools such as Maya or Blender.
Other responsibilities include coordinating with campus IT to maintain security controls and compliance.
The ideal candidate will also assist in project management in conjunction with a team of graduate students and faculty to coordinate logistics and operations.
Job Responsibilities50%Teach and coordinate all aspects of the courses assigned including:
course / project development, PowerPoint presentations, technique demonstrations, one-on-one assistance with students during class, grading, and class prep (projector, demo setup).
Help oversee student clean up at end of class.
Also responsible for submitting a complete, itemized list of course supplies to the area coordinator prior to the first day of the semester, and to monitor their student's use of those supplies in accordance with any course fee.
25%Project specific tasks including integration of essential aspects of 3D scanning, point cloud to mesh workflows, digital thread, industrial sensors, microcontrollers, BIM data user interfaces for simulations and real-time graphics engines.
10%Coordinate with campus ITS to maintain security controls and compliance.
10%Project management to include scheduling and coordination of logistics and operations along with a team of graduate student assistants.
5%Other duties as directed.
Minimum QualificationsMasters in Art, Computer Science, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or other field relevant to digital twinning.
8 or more years of exceptional professional experience.
Preferred QualificationsPrior
Experience:

using 3D scanning pipelines such as laser based (FARO or Leica), photogrammetry, or structured light,2.
working in video game engines such as Unity or Unreal,3.
using CAD and BIM related tools such as Revit or Creo,4.
