Pay Grade E Salary Hourly Pay Rate FLSA Exempt Job SummaryBasic Function The Data Architect of Student Affairs Data Analytics will be responsible for analyzing and reporting on data for a broad range of assessment and evaluation efforts supporting Student Affairs programming and services.
This includes being the primary lead for the administration management and reporting on data related to retention persistence and graduation rates student engagement and learning outcomes for the Division of Student Affairs.
Additionally the Data Architect will assist Student Affairs offices with internal assessments and data reporting to support strategic planning.
The Data Architect along with their team will also fulfill data requests using a variety of data sources available throughout the University and be able to make meaningful connections within the data to answer questions about the student experience.
The Data Architect provides leadership in evaluating the effectiveness and advancing the continuous improvement of student success processes and practices at Weber State University.
The Data Architect works broadly across the division yet concentrates heavily on data connections between divisions colleges faculty and other key constituents.
This position provides key leadership on division projects and events with a focus on assisting senior staff in their facilitation of student success through data.
The Data Architect works closely with other offices outside of student affairs including but not limited to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness the Office of Institutional Research and IT to maximize the development of actionable data and insight to inform student success strategies.
Lead the research activities for Student Affairs.
Develop and implement data and research plans policies and processes that result in content that effectively supports the entire Divisions data and analytics priorities.
Lead the establishment of priorities identification of data needs and gaps develop processes and timelines analysis of data and sharing of findings to support a culture of evidenced based practice.
Ensure that data and analysis activities align with learning outcomes and the Divisions strategic goals and objectives.
Provide expertise and guidance to leadership and staff in planning and implementing meaningful data measurement activities.
The Data Architect is responsible to use data to support and shape the strategic direction for Student Affairs and the university community.
The Data Architect reports to the Executive Director of Student Affairs Auxiliaries and works closely with the Student Affairs Management Council including the VPSA to set collective goals identify priorities across the division and relay data information to various constituents in multiple forms.
The Data Architect will supervise a team of two full time data analysts.
Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in a business computer science social sciences or analytical field.
Minimum years fulltime equivalent experience working with syntax driven statistical packages e.
g.
R SAS SPSS or using SQL to query databases.
Business intelligence and analytics experience Preferred Qualifications Masters degree Experience working with higher education data Experience programming data extracts from Banner or PeopleSoft or other largescale enterprise software Experience working with visualization tools such as Tableau Experience using command line SQL tools Experience working with endusers and translating their business needs into technical requirements Excellent communication verbalwritten organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple tasks be detail oriented be responsive and demonstrate independent thought and critical thinking Analytical and actionfocused with strong timemanagement organizational and problemsolving skills experience supervising others Skilled interpersonal communicator.
