ESTIMATOR III

This position is accountable for producing accurate, on time, competitive bids and delivery dates. Prepares estimates for product manufacturing, construction projects, or services and bids on or determines price of product or service. Analyzes specifications, blueprints, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates. Applies knowledge of computing cost factors and conducts special studies to develop cost related data and consult with clients, vendors, etc., to discuss and resolve issues.
Essential Functions:
Heavy interface with customers and purchasing agents regarding RFQ (request for quote.) To include but not limited to:
- Process analysis
- Labor and material cost analysis
- Problem solving and job development
- Produce accurate and competitive bids.
- Produce a work order with the following information:
- Instructions to do the job
- Hours
- Material
- Description/ scope of work
- Drawing numbers
- Delivery dates.
- Compile bill of materials to go to purchasing.
- Cut costs and increase efficiency in own job as well as production.
- Produce quality reports that are well organized, clearly stated, and concise in a timely manner.
- Maintain safe environment.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Specific knowledge of fabrication shop activities, procedures, and labor costs.
- General knowledge of fabrication fitting and assembly materials and labor costs.
- Broad knowledge of blue prints, basic trigonometry, and shop math. Trouble shoot blueprints, and is familiar with geometric tolerancing and specifications.
- Advanced knowledge of manufacturing materials, material types, and structural plates and shapes.
- Must be able to differentiate flat patterns to multi-dimensional products.
- Knowledge of a variety of software programs preferably Fabtrol or equivalent material time estimating program.
- Ability to produce quality reports that are well organized, clearly stated and concise in a timely manner.
- Proven ability to negotiate in conflict resolution settings.
- Must be able to understand and execute contractual commitments.
- Basic business writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and problem solving skills.
- Ability to communicate with team members, management, and customers.
- Exceptional follow-through and proven closing skills.
- Ability to develop a good working relationship with customers, interdepartmental team members, and vendors.
- Ability to cut costs and increase efficiency in own job as well as production.
- Proven track record in successful bidding and closing techniques.
- Able to establish and maintain trust, unity, and partnering with management, team members, and customers.
- Must be a strong advocate of the company vision and mission statements.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED preferred. One year Level I Estimating experience. Three to five years experience in estimating with working knowledge of contract administration; plus two to three years experience working in a machine shop and fabrication shop with progressive leadership responsibilities including interfacing with customers, suppliers, and other departments.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
